I’m Moving For The First Time And This Is How I Feel

That’s right guys and girls, I’m moving.

For the first time in 15 years (well, let’s say 18, because the last time I moved I stood in the same street, so it doesn’t really count) I’m moving and I’m freaking out.

Let me explain to you how this works: I’m leaving from a town I don’t like to one I’m not sure I will like more. I will be an hour away from Mike and I have 4 days from the point I’m writing this to move.

So, because I have a lot to do, I decided to do the last thing I should be doing right now (especially because the decision is already made): a pros and cons list.

Bare with me as I do this and please, please, please leave me some nice comments ’cause I’m really in need of some nice words.

Pros (because why the hell not?)

  • I’m moving with my family
  • I will be in a different place – start from scratch!
  • I will have a better chance to succeed on what I like to do
  • I’ll have more places to be, and more things to do
  • Every day will be an adventure (at least for a while)
  • I’ll have a better internet connection (uhum, it’s important though!)
  • I’ll be able to start YouTube (finally!!!)
  • Loads more

  • I’ll be an hour distance from Mike
  • I don’t know anything or anybody
  • I’m not sure how the public transportation really works there
  • Nothing to add?

So yeah, It’s not a lot of cons and surely is a lot of pros, but I’m stressed and excited and scared and excited and… *takes a deep breath* I need to take a chill pill.

Because I have a lot in hands right now, I’m not going to promise any new posts for a little while, HOWEVER: I know most of you are really into tech and I have a great post for you: I’ve spent +24h offline and… I’ll tell you all about it soon as I can!

Sorry for the lack of pictures, it was just a little rant!

Moving after such a long time (especially as it’s the first time) can be scary but sometimes, change is good. Good luck!

Short but sweet! I think it’s a great decision (even though you have a few cons) to move and be someplace new. It’s a fresh start as you said, and I think beginnings are always exciting. You never know who you’ll meet next or what will happen, but you can always make the best of your new surroundings. Call it the “version 2.0” of yourself. Haha. Best of luck to your plans!

All the best with you new move. Look at the bright side, you are just an hour away from Mike rather than a long distance. The fact that you have listed pros and cons, and the latter only had 4 compared to the earlier, I am sure it will be good for you and you will be just fine.

Moving to a new place can be challenging. It’s a mix of excitement and worry how it’s going to be in the new place, but you’ll be fine. It will take time for you to adjust before settle down, but it’s a part of life adventure. I have moved a countless time in my life, and the biggest part was when I leave my home county and moved to Belgium.

When I was a kid, we always move from one place to another. Moving means adjustment, I need to adjust with new place and new school. It is hard at first but life must go on. I can see that there are more pros than cons in your list. 🙂

  27. Mommy Queenelizabeth

    28 September, 2016 at 23:31

Moving was quite stressful. Not just the luggage and everything being transported but the feelings. It must be hard leaving a place where you are used to and moving to another. Adjustments will always be a challenge. Goodluck!

I can certainly understand your anxiety. I moved to a different country/ And then when I was here, we moved to a different city. So yeah, the physical act of moving kind of sucks (truth!) BUT exciting too. So many new things and experiences ahead of you. Don’t worry, you’ll be ok!

Good luck ! Focus on positive sides of decision and this new experience sounds exciting!!
I can feel the kind of way you are feeling in this moment. I’m an expat… it wasn’t always so easy but we need just focus on the bright side of life!

  33. soulsensecoaching

I married a nomad and have moved a lot. Deep breath in, things seem worse just before the event and the obstacles that seem insurmountable become easier when you can actually start problem solving them. You will find your way around, you will settle in and (not too sure who Mike is) but maybe this is just the nudge you and Mike need to make a decision. Good luck with the move!

I can feel the way you are feeling right now. Last year about the same time as now I moved to a differe nt continent for higher studies. Coming from a well and closely knit family and settling into a cosmopolitan city almost a day away from home by flight was not easy. the first few days I had nothing to do and if it werent for the Wifi i would have probably been dead. But soon things started changing. I started meeting new people, getting involved in things, going out to travel, taking photographs to document my time away from home and things started changing. It would be a different experience for you and i think you should accept it and enjoy it. After all, life is full of experiences isnt it. PS. This is the first time I moved , This would probably be the 10th time. So maybe Im used to it. 🙂 All the luck with your shifting and hope you adjust to your new home comfortably. 🙂
